Product Description

Botanical Name: Echinacea purpurea

Plant Family: Asteraceae (Aster family)

Botanical Description:
Echinacea is a genus of flowering plants native to North America. Echinacea purpurea, one of the most commonly used species, is a herbaceous perennial that typically grows to a height of 60-120 centimetres. It features sturdy, hairy stems with lance-shaped leaves that are arranged alternately along the stem. The plant produces striking purple to pinkish-purple flowers with prominent spiky centres (cone-shaped heads) surrounded by petals. The flowers bloom from mid-summer to early autumn and are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. Echinacea plants are often found in prairies, meadows, and open woodlands, and they are valued for their medicinal properties.

Introduction:
Echinacea has a long history of use in traditional Native American medicine who used various parts of the plant to treat a wide range of ailments, including infections, wounds, and snakebites. In the late 19th century, echinacea gained popularity in Western herbalism and became well known as a immune-stimulating herb. Today, echinacea is one of the most widely used and studied medicinal herbs in the Western world, valued for its potential to support immune function and promote overall wellness.

Preparations:
Tea: Prepare echinacea tea by steeping dried echinacea roots or herb (leaves and flowers) in hot water for 10-15 minutes. Strain the infusion and drink it.
Tincture: Prepare an echinacea tincture by macerating dried echinacea roots or herb (leaves and flowers) in alcohol (such as vodka or brandy) for several weeks. Strain the tincture and store it in a dark glass bottle. Take echinacea tincture orally by diluting it in water or juice according to the dosage instructions provided on the product label or by a qualified herbalist.
Capsules or Tablets: Echinacea supplements are available in capsule or tablet form for convenient consumption. Follow the dosage recommendations provided on the product label or consult with a healthcare practitioner for personalised guidance. Echinacea capsules or tablets may be taken orally as part of a holistic approach to immune support and overall wellness.
