Product Description

Botanical Name: Avena sativa

Plant Family: Poaceae (Grass family)

Botanical Description:
Avena sativa, commonly known as oats or green oats, is a species of cereal grain belonging to the Poaceae family. It is an annual grass that typically grows to a height of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. Oats have long, narrow leaves with parallel veins and hollow stems. The inflorescence of Avena sativa is a panicle, which consists of many small spikelets arranged on branches. Each spikelet contains multiple florets, each of which produces a single seed. Oats are cultivated primarily for their seeds, which are rich in nutrients and have numerous culinary and medicinal uses.

Avena sativa has a long history of cultivation and use as a food source, particularly in regions with temperate climates. In addition to their role as a staple food, Avena are also valued for their medicinal properties and are commonly used in traditional herbal medicine systems around the world.

Infusion: Prepare the infusion by steeping dried avena in hot water for 15-20 minutes. Strain the infusion and drink as needed. Avena infusion can be consumed hot or cold and may be sweetened with honey or flavoured with herbs if desired.
Avena Extract: Avena extract is made by macerating in alcohol to extract their medicinal properties. The extract can be diluted with water and taken orally as a dietary supplement.
